CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's track and field team kicks off its indoor season on Friday, Dec. 10, at Eastern Illinois University's Early Bird Track and Field meet at Lantz Fieldhouse in Charleston, Ill.
"We're trying to give our team a chance to compete before winter break and get everybody out there in uniform and used to competition again," UC women's head coach Susan Seaton said. "For our veterans, it's been since May since they last competed. For our freshmen, we're trying to get them out there and get them some experience."
The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. In addition to EIU, the Bearcats will compete against Butler, Chicago State, Indiana State, Kennesaw State and Northern Illinois.
"It's a smaller meet, but we do want to have a good showing, especially against Indiana State," said Seton. "They have a good team and are competitive in many events. So we would definitely like to come home with some event champions."
Following the Early Bird meet, Cincinnati will have a four-week break from competition until it travels to Akron, Ohio on Jan. 7 for the Akron Opener.
