BOCA RATON, Fla. - The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving team took a break from its annual training trip to South Florida to participate in the Florida Atlantic University Invitational at the FAU Aquatics Complex in Boca Raton, Fla.
Both squads competed in triangular meets, with the women taking on host FAU, Rice University, and the University of Denver. The men's squad took on FAU, Denver, and the Air Force Academy.
The women were 1-2 on the day, knocking off the host Owls 193-105, but falling to Rice 184-110, and to Denver by a 192-108 margin. The men were 0-3, recording losses to FAU (204-76), Denver (222-58), and Air Force (182-80).
Brittany Teneyck and Weronika Wasiakowska both won a pair of events while Stephen Cunningham and Nathan Williams each picked up single victories.
TenEyck swept the 1- and 3-meter diving events, with point totals of 290.20 and 304.65, respectively. Wasiakowska swam 24.67 in the 50-yard freestyle, and 52.57 in the 100 freestyle for her two wins.
Cunningham clocked 4:39.00 to take the top spot in the 500 freestyle while Williams timed in at 9:37.37 to win the men's 1,000 freestyle
UC will return to action on Friday, Jan. 18, 2011, welcoming longtime rival Miami (OH) to the Keating Aquatics Center Natatorium for a dual meet starting at 5 p.m. Admission for all fans is free.
