CINCINNATI - The Skyline Chili Women's Crosstown Shootout returns to Fifth Third Arena on Dec. 5, 2010, at 2 p.m. when the University of Cincinnati women's basketball team welcomes Xavier in the Battle for the Kendle Cup.
With the abundant help of sponsors such as Total Quality Logistics (TQL), Skyline Chili, Kendle International, Cintas, Fifth Third Bank, Macy's, Modern Ice, Bill Keating, Keating, Muething & Klekamp, and the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Women's Sports Association, the annual Women's Crosstown Shootout has become the premier women's sporting event in the area.
The gates at Fifth Third Arena open at 12:30 p.m. Special promotions for the 2010 Skyline Chili Women's Crosstown Shootout include a complimentary commemorative poster for the first 1,000 fans courtesy of TQL, an autograph session in the North Hallway of Fifth Third Arena until 1:45 p.m. with student-athletes from both UC and Xavier's women's athletic teams (excluding women's basketball), and a pregame Bearcats Family Zone in the East concourse that includes a visit from Lucy the Bearcat, a sign making station, and a pop-a-shot basketball game.
Former UC women's basketball players will be recognized at halftime.
Following the game, the UC women's basketball team will be available to sign autographs for fans in addition to an autograph session with author and former ESPN anchor Betsy Ross promoting her new book Playing Ball with the Boys.
TQL has sponsored a raffle for five $1,000 vouchers for a set of 15 school or club team custom uniforms, and each voucher should cover the cost of 15 uniforms for a girl's sports team (K-8), including basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer or field hockey. For more information, click here.
The Bearcats are off to a 5-0 start this season for the first time since 2006-07 in head coach Jamelle Elliot's second season at Cincinnati, while Xavier is currently ranked No. 4/4 in the nation. Cincinnati is looking to reclaim the Kendle Cup, the traveling trophy awarded to the winner of the annual Skyline Chili Women's Crosstown Shootout.
