CINCINNATI - Kayla Cook (South Webster, Ohio/South Webster) tied a career high with 15 points to lead the University of Cincinnati women's basketball team to a 57-47 win against Marshall on Tuesday (Dec. 21) in Fifth Third Arena.

Cook added a team-high seven rebounds to go along with three assists and two steals in playing the entire 40 minutes for the second time during her freshman campaign.

Marshall led by three early, but the Bearcats took the lead at the 16:29 mark and didn't trail again. Cook, Reaves, and Ulis scored seven points each in the first half, while Cook led all players with six rebounds.

The Thundering Herd (3-7) cut the UC lead to seven with 8:24 to play on an Orlandria Williams layup, but the Bearcats answered with five straight to push the lead back to double digits. Marshall cut it to nine on two occasions, but would get no closer.

Cincinnati will take a break for the holidays and travel to San Diego for the Maggie Dixon Surf N Slam Classic. The Bearcats will take on Texas on Dec. 28 and either Hofstra or host San Diego.
