COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Former University of Cincinnati Bearcats all-American Omar Cummings will head to England to train with Aston Villa of the Premier League.
Cummings will initially be training with the Birmingham, England club, but discussions have reportedly taken place that could lead to Aston Villa taking Cummings on loan.
Cummings is expected to join Villa in the coming days to begin training with the club.
The 28-year-old striker led Colorado with 14 goals in 2010 and helped the club win their first-ever MLS Cup title. He also continued scoring goals for the Jamaica National team and helped the team repeat at Caribbean Cup champions in early December by scoring a goal in the final.
At Cincinnati, Cummings became the Bearcats' first first-team all-American during his senior season in 2006 and twice earned all-BIG EAST first-team honors during his time as a Bearcat. Cummings closed out his two-year career at UC ranked fifth in school history with 16 career assists.
