CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's lacrosse team and head coach Lellie Swords will face five opponents in 2011 that qualified for the 2010 NCAA Tournament and the Bearcats will play host to seven opponents in their last season playing home games in Nippert Stadium.
"Once again we have a tough schedule lined up," said Swords. "We are excited for the 2011 season and the challenges that lie ahead. Playing teams that advanced to the 2010 NCAA Tournament, including conference teams such as Georgetown, Notre Dame and Syracuse, only helps our program develop. Our team is ready to have a breakout season."
Cincinnati opens the 2011 season on February 13, playing at Jacksonville University. UC's first four games of the season are on the road, including Davidson (Feb. 18), High Point (Feb. 20) and NCAA Tournament qualifier Vanderbilt (March 2).
The Bearcats return home for three games, taking on Oregon (March 6), Detroit (March 11), and another NCAA Tournament qualifier, Stanford (March 22). UC finishes the month of March on the road, playing Duquesne (March 24) and its first BIG EAST Conference game of the season, at Louisville (March 27).
UC will play BIG EAST games in April, hosting Loyola (April 1) before traveling to Georgetown (April 8). Cincinnati will welcome Villanova (April 15) and Rutgers (April 17) and then close the month on the road with contests at Connecticut (April 21) and at 2010 NCAA Tournament semifinalist Syracuse.
The Bearcats will play Notre Dame on May 1 before the BIG EAST Tournament, which will be hosted by Georgetown on May 5 and 7 and brings the top four teams in the conference standings at the conclusion of the regular season.
