Here's what's coming up this week in Cincinnati sports:
- The No. 24/25 men's basketball team will host USF at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats will then take on No. 4/4 Syracuse at noon Saturday in Syracuse, N.Y. Cincinnati is 15-1 overall and tied for seventh in the BIG EAST at 2-1.
- The women's basketball team will take on Rutgers at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats are 8-7 and tied for eighth in the BIG EAST at 1-2.
- The swimming and diving team will kick off the second half of their season at 5 p.m. Friday against Miami (Ohio) at the Keating Aquatics Center. UC will then compete in a BIG EAST meet against Louisville at 2 p.m. Saturday in Louisville, Ky. The time of this meet is yet to be determined.

In case you missed it:
- The men's basketball team defeated crosstown rival Xavier, 66-46 last Thursday, in front of a capacity crowd for the annual grudge match. Cincinnati produced the most-lopsided win in the series in nine years (75-55 in 2001) and held the Musketeers to 46 points - its lowest scoring in the series since March 9, 1949 (57-46 win for UC). Before this game, Xavier had won three in a row and eight of 11 in the series. The Bearcats then suffered their first regular and BIG EAST loss of the season against Villanova, 72-61 last Sunday in Philadelphia, Penn. Before this loss, Cincinnati's 15-0 start matched the 1998-99 team for second-best in school history.
- The women's basketball team defeated USF last Wednesday, 57-56, in Tampa, Fla. The Bearcats went on to play No. 6/7 West Virginia last Saturday, but Box Score in Morgantown, W.Va.
- The women's track and field team resumed indoor competition after a four-week holiday break and came out victorious at the 2011 Akron Opener last Friday, at Stile Field House in Akron, Ohio. The Bearcats finished in first place after compiling 112 team points, followed by Akron's 109 points and Temple's 67, with first-place finishes in seven events.
- The baseball team was picked seventh in the 2011 BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced last Tuesday. Cincinnati tied with Notre Dame for seventh in the poll after receiving 56 points, while Connecticut led the way with 117 points, followed by St. John's (107) and Louisville (105).
