CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati women's soccer coach Michelle Salmon announced Monday the hiring of Tiffany Roberts as assistant coach. Roberts served as a volunteer assistant last season for the Bearcats.
"We are excited to announce that Tiffany has joined our coaching staff," said Salmon. "I have great respect for her as a coach and know she will be a great compliment to the staff we already have in place. Tiffany has played at the highest level and we are thrilled to have her share her experience with our players. As a coach, she understands the game; her passion to better players and teach the game is a tremendous asset to our program. Tiffany brings a lot of creative and original ideas to the table. She will be a vital element to our continued commitment in building a championship program here at the University of Cincinnati."
Roberts played collegiately at Santa Clara University where she was a four-year starter at midfield. As a team captain, Roberts led the Broncos to four NCAA College Cup appearances, including the 2004 Final Four. She was named to the Soccer Buzz West Region all-Freshman Team and an honorable mention all-West Coast Conference as a rookie. As a sophomore she was an honorable mention all-WCC selection and was named to Soccer America's and Soccer Buzz's Elite teams. Her junior season, Roberts earned all-WCC second team honors.
Roberts was invited to play in the McDonald's All-America game as a senior in high school. She was a member of the Arizona State Olympic Developmental team from 1998-2002 and a Region IV team member in 2001 and 2002.
Roberts has earned a United States Soccer Federation 'D' License and currently serves as the Associate Director of Coaching and Club Manager for the U15-U18 Girls at Hammer FC where she also coaches the U18 and U16 age groups. Roberts, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, received her bachelor's degree in Communications in 2007 from Santa Clara.
"I am excited for the opportunity to join the University of Cincinnati's women's soccer program," said Roberts. "I am honored that Michelle has given me the opportunity to join such a great program in one of the premier soccer conferences in the country. I knew the second I walked onto Cincinnati's campus that it was a special place and having the opportunity to work with Michelle Salmon and Amanda Martin (assistant coach) completes the package."
