CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati junior men's soccer standout Matt Bahner (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) was named to the Jewish Sports Review all-America first team on Tuesday (Jan. 11).

A three-year starter, Bahner led the Bearcats with seven goals and six assists for 20 points, earning all-BIG EAST second-team honors. He helped UC to a trip to the BIG EAST Championship semifinals and a 7-4-7 overall record in 2010. Bahner was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on three occasions in 2010, while scoring three game-winners and tallying four goals and five assists in BIG EAST play.

Bahner, a midfielder, also earned first-team all-Ohio honors, as announced by the Ohio Soccer Coaches Association. He was joined on the all-Ohio squad by senior forward Nick Weightman (Lanark, Scotland/St. Aidans) and sophomore center back Roger Thompson (Brampton, Ontario/Graceland), who were each selected to the second team.

Weightman scored four goals with a pair of assists in 17 starts as a senior for the Bearcats. He scored two game-winners, both in league play, against BIG EAST regular-season champion Georgetown and at St. John's. He also tallied UC's lone goal against No. 7 Connecticut in a 1-1 draw in the BIG EAST quarterfinals, in which the Bearcats advanced via penalty kicks.

Thompson started all 19 matches in his first season with the Bearcats after transferring from Graceland University. He led a UC defense that allowed just 14 goals in 19 matches and posted a 0.68 goals against average. He carded an assist on the game winner in the season-opening victory against Dayton.
