Columbus, Ohio - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team lost at No. 33 Ohio State University, 7-0, in the first half of the "Buckeyes Go Pink" season-opening doubleheader at the OSU Varsity Tennis Center.
Ohio State won the doubles point with 8-1, 8-1, and 8-3 wins. In singles action, UC's No. 2 and No. 3 competitors had strong performances. Jasmine Lee (No. 2) was impressive against Ohio State's Kelsey Haviland, ranked No. 125, losing 6-4, 6-3, while Ashleigh Witte (No. 3) gave Kara Cecil a battle before falling, 6-3, 7-6.
Cincinnati (0-2) will play its first home match of the 2011 season next, taking on Miami (OH) on Friday, Jan. 28, in a 6 p.m. contest at Western Tennis and Fitness Club.
