CINCINNATI - Stephanie Niemer, a senior on the University of Cincinnati volleyball team, received another tribute to her storied Bearcat career when Volleyball Magazine named her to its All-America First Team in the February 2011 issue.
Niemer, an outside hitter from Erlanger, Ky., previously this season became the first player in UC history to be named a Second Team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association after finishing 2010 ranked fourth in the NCAA in kills per set (5.12) and third in points per set (5.93).
The 2010 BIG EAST Player of the Year, who was named an AVCA All-Regional performer the past two seasons, helped guide the Bearcats to a 30-6 record and a third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance.
Niemer, who finished her career tied for first in Bearcat history with 137 matches played, ranks first in UC history in service aces and second in kills and kills per set. She is currently playing professionally in Puerto Rico for Indias de Mayaguez.
