CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati tennis team will play its first home match of the 2011 season when it hosts Miami (OH) on Friday, Jan. 28, at the Western Tennis and Fitness Club, the indoor home of the UC women's tennis team. The match will begin at 6 p.m.
Cincinnati will look to snap back-to-back losses after falling on the road at No. 50 Purdue and No. 33 Ohio State last weekend. Miami will pose a strong challenge for the Bearcats as the RedHawks are coming off two 7-0 victories in 2011 and have defeated the Bearcats in five of the last six times the two teams have met.
On Sunday, Jan. 30, Cincinnati will hit the road to play at No. 45 Indiana in a 4 p.m. match. UC has played at IU the last two times the teams met and the Hoosiers are sitting at their highest ranking in those contests (No. 47 in 2010 and No. 68 in 2002). Indiana won, 7-0, last season and defeated UC, 4-3, in 2002.
Junior Jasmine Lee will look to continue her impressive play, having earned UC's point by defeating Mara Schmidt of Purdue in the No. 2 position. Lee has won 19 games for the Bearcats while freshman Ashleigh Witte has won 15 games at the No. 3 position.
