After great Silver Medal performances in both the Pom and Hip Hop Divisions at the 2011 Universal Dance Association - College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship in January, the University of Cincinnati Dance has been selected to represent the United States for the second time in three years at the International Cheer Union World Championships in Orlando, Fla., from April 28-30, 2011.

The team was selected by USA Cheer, the national governing body, from a pool of universities based on its overall ability and talent to compete in its dance genres. The dance team finished second in both categories earlier this year and has won four national championships in the Hip Hop category. They earned their prior hip-hop championships in 2004, 2005, and 2006.

" I am honored that we have been selected to represent the United States at the 2011 World Championship," said UC Dance Head Coach Lisa Spears. "It speaks v olum es about the talent of our team and the representation UC has made at the national championship competition each passing year. Our team will not only represent the University of Cincinnati to the best of our ability but also the entire United States of America."

The UC Dance team will be competing against 25-30 other countries in the World Championships.

The dance teams will continue to be in action at all men's and women's home basketball games for the balance of the 2011 season.

Highlights from the U.S. Nationals will be shown on ESPN on various dates throughout early 2011. A complete schedule can be found
