MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team dropped a 72-44 decision at No. 6/7 West Virginia on Saturday (Jan. 8) at the WVU Coliseum.

Cincinnati (8-7, 1-2 BIG EAST) shot a season-low 19.7 percent for the game, hitting on 12-of-61 field goals. Shareese Ulis (Toledo, Ohio/Trinity Valley C.C.) led the Bearcats with 16 points and knocked down four three-pointers.

West Virginia (16-0, 3-0) stayed unbeaten - one of two teams in the nation without a loss - and blocked 17 shots on the evening.

The Bearcats shot just 19 percent in the first half and committed 14 turnovers in the stanza. West Virginia took a 14-point lead into the break, 38-24.

UC made a run in the second half, cutting the lead to 10, 49-39, with 10:29 to go on a Ulis three. The Bearcats scored just five points from there and West Virginia pulled away with a 23-5 run to end the game.

Kayla Cook (South Webster, Ohio/South Webster) tallied eight points while Chanel Chisholm (Long Island, N.Y./Vanderbilt) scored six points and added eight rebounds.

Jeanise Randolph (Calumet City, Ill./Thornton Fractional North) grabbed seven rebounds to help UC outrebound the Mountaineers, 46-42. UC grabbed 26 offensive caroms.

Madina Ali led three Mountaineers in double figures with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Liz Repella added 11 points and Asya Bussie chipped in 10.

The Bearcats have a week to prepare for Rutgers, who it welcomes to Fifth Third Arena on Saturday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m.
