CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati women's soccer coach Michelle Salmon announced the 2011 spring schedule on Tuesday. The schedule features five dates with the Bearcats facing three opponents at Gettler Stadium.
"We are excited to announce our spring schedule for 2011," said Salmon. "We have 23 players returning next fall and with that in mind we have set up a challenging spring schedule against some of the nation's elite. Our spring schedule will afford us the opportunity to continue to develop our players and prepare them for next fall against some of the premier teams in the country. We are eager to return to the field and begin our quest for a Big East Championship."
UC will start the spring slate when it hosts the University of Tennessee from the Southeastern Conference. Tennessee is coming off a 10-win season and will play the Bearcats on Sunday, April 3 at noon. Five days later, on Friday, April 8, UC welcomes Toledo to Gettler Stadium for a 7 p.m. match.
Cincinnati plays its toughest opponents on the road during the spring, playing at Illinois on Sunday, April 10, in a 1 p.m. contest and traveling up Interstate 75 to take on Dayton on Thursday, April 14, in a 7 p.m. match. Illinois and Dayton both qualified for the 2010 NCAA Tournament with Dayton advancing to the second round before falling to Ohio State on penalty kicks.
The Bearcats close out the 2011 spring schedule at home with a 2 p.m. match against Indiana on Sunday, April 17.
