CINCINNATI - A close tennis match came down to split-sets singles at Nos. 1, 2 and 4, but it would be the University of Toledo prevailing over the University of Cincinnati, 6-3, Friday evening at the Western Tennis and Fitness Center.
Toledo (4-2) held a 4-2 edge going into the third sets of the three singles matches. The Rockets' would clinch the match by taking two of the three. Toldeo's Polina Guimaraes hung on to defeat UC's Ksenia Slynko, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4, at No. 1, Jasmine Lee claimed the No. 2 singles for the Bearcats over Ashley Frey, 7-5, 5-7, 6-0, and Toledo's Kelsey Anonsen came from a set down to win at No. 4 over UC's Caitlin O'Gara, 4-6, 7-6 (7-6), 6-3.
The Bearcats dropped to 1-7 on the season. They will host two matches on Saturday at the Western Tennis and Fitness Center, facing the University of Dayton at 10 a.m. and University of Akron at 5 p.m.
