HIGH POINT, N.C. - The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team dropped a 15-7 road decision at High Point Sunday, moving to 1-1 on the weekend at the Panthers' Vert Stadium.
Cincinnati (1-2) held a 13-11 advantage in draw controls, but the Bearcats struggled with 19 turnovers and tallied 17 shots to High Point's 36.
Marissa Pierson and Kylie Ramsland scored two goals apiece for the Bearcats while Maggie Hague, MacKenzie Parsons, and Laura Simanski added single goals.
Jen Walsh made her third-straight start for UC, grabbing 17 saves in the loss. Ali Mattingly led all players with four draw controls.
Ramsland scored her second goal of the game five minutes after halftime, pulling UC within two at 7-5 with 24:25 left to play.
That would be as close as the Bearcats would get as the Panthers added eight second-half goals, including four from leading scorer Sara Kuhlman, who led all players on the day with five goals.
High Point was on the board first, scoring a pair of goals 15 seconds apart to lead 2-0 with 20:30 remaining in the half.
Ramsland added a short-handed goal at the 18:50 mark, but UC surrendered three more scores over the next five minutes, trailing 5-1 with 11:23 left in the half.
Parsons goal moments later at 11:09 was the first of three Bearcats goals over the final 11 minutes of the half, bringing UC within three, 7-4, heading into the locker room.
UC continues its four-match road swing to open the season on Wednesday, March 2, 2001 at Vanderbilt at 4 p.m. ET. UC plays its first home match against Oregon on Sunday, March 6 at 11 a.m. inside Nippert Stadium.
