MESA, Ariz. - In his Major League Baseball debut, former University of Cincinnati pitcher and current Milwaukee Brewers prospect Brian Garman (Wapakoneta, Ohio/Wapakoneta) recorded a save Monday in Milwaukee's 5-3 Spring Training win over the Chicago Cubs.
In an inning pitched, Garman struck out one and allowed one hit to preserve the Brewers' lead and end the game.
After Garman was selected with the 14th pick of the 17th round (pick 519) by the Brewers on June 8, he pitched in 22 games for the Helena Brewers of the Rookie Pioneer League. Garman finished his rookie season with a 3-1 record with nine saves, a 0.90 ERA, and 42 strikeouts in 30.0 innings pitched.
Last year as a senior with the Bearcats, Garman was named an All-BIG EAST Third Team selection after and making 17 appearances, including five starts. He completed 59.1 innings, struck out a single-season personal-best 65 batters, walked just 19, and finished with a 3.79 ERA that ranked eighth in the BIG EAST.
