The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team notched a victory on the road Friday, defeating host West Virginia University, 6-1.
"This was a great Big East Conference win," said UC head coach Angela Wilson. "Winning the doubles point set the momentum for the rest of the match. Our team played well and had great attitudes. Even the two matches we lost were very close. I'm really proud of how hard our team competed tonight."
The victory marked the UC's first win against West Virginia in five years. The Bearcats (3-10) will play two matches on Saturday in Pittsburgh, first facing the University of Pittsburgh at 10 a.m. and then Providence College at 5 p.m.
