The University of Cincinnati baseball team concludes its 2011 home-opening schedule with a four-game series against Western Michigan University on March 18-20 at Marge Schott Stadium. The Bearcats and Broncos will play a 4 p.m. ET game on Friday. They will play a doubleheader on Saturday, with the first game starting at 1 p.m. ET. The second game will start approximately 30 minutes after the condlusion of the first game. The final game of the series will be on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. UC then will hit the road to play at the University of Kentucky on Tuesday.
SERIES INFORMATION
-The University of Cincinnati and Western Michigan Univeristy have played five games all-time.
-The Bearcats have won two of those five games. ff The first matchup occured during the 1961 season.
-The last time the Bearcats and Broncos faced each other on the diamond was during the 1976 season.
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
-Western Michigan enters the weekend against Cincinnati with a 9-8 overall record.
-WMU enters its series vs. UC with a three-game winning streak after defeating Illinois State on Saturday and sweeping Indiana State in a doubleheader Sunday.
-Western's nine wins on the season ranks tied for first in the Mid-American Conference.
-The Broncos lead the MAC in saves (5), sacrifice bunts (21), runners picked off (10), wild pitches (22) and balks (7).
