CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team, playing its third ranked opponent in four games, lost a 17-3 contest to No. 5 Loyola (Md.), in BIG EAST Conference action Friday at Nippert Stadium.
The Bearcats (2-8, 0-2 BIG EAST) did not convert on five free-position chances and lost the shot battle 32-10 to the Greyhounds (9-0, 1-0 BIG EAST) who are off to their best start since 2003.
Maggie Hague, Marissa Pierson, and Kylie Ramsland all finished with goals while Allison Bell and Katie Liberatore tallied assists. MacKenzie Parsons finished with three draw controls to lead UC.
Loyola jumped out early, scoring a goal in the opening minute and adding a second tally at 28:38. Pierson put the Bearcats on the board at 28:38, but that would be UC's last goal of the half, and the Bearcats trailed 12-1 at halftime.
UC added goals from Ramsland at 22:11 and from Hague at 1:11, but never got any closer, leaving the final tally at 17-3.
Grace Gavin, the No. 5 scorer in the country, and Abby Rehfuss finished with a game-high four goals apiece to lead the Greyhounds.
UC returns to action on April 8 at 3:30 p.m., taking on Georgetown in Washington, D.C.
