CINCINNATI - This Friday (April 15) former UC tennis great, Tony Trabert, will be on hand to officially unveil the new signage that will bear his name at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center as the Bearcats women take on Ball State at the Western Tennis and Fitness Club at 4 p.m.

Last spring the UC women's tennis team, along with Trabert and special guests, celebrated the 55th anniversary of his historic Grand Slam Championship as well as re-launched the Tony Trabert Scholarship Fund to secure the program for future generations of Bearcats. As a key part of that celebration the proposed signage for the tennis center was unveiled.

"We are extremely fortunate to have Tony back to officially recognize him, along with his longtime mentor and friend William (Bill) Talbert, with the addition of new signage for the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center, which opened in 2006. Tony is not only known as one of the greatest tennis players of all time; he has been a tremendous ambassador for UC; as well as a family friend for a number of years. We are so happy to be able to honor Tony in this way and so pleased he could return to be a part of it." -Angela Farley-Wilson, Head Women's Tennis Coach

In addition to the unveiling of new signage for the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center this event will serve as another opportunity for alums, tennis enthusiasts, and others to become more involved with the women's tennis program. With the formation of the new 40-Love Club as well as the already established Tony Trabert Scholarship Fund there are plenty of opportunities to play a key role in the progression of UC women's tennis. Having Trabert back only reaffirms his commitment to the program in addition to his high hopes and expectations for the present and future.

You are invited to attend the festivities as the short program will begin at approximately 4:45 p.m. in between the doubles and singles matches. Directions to the Western Tennis and Fitness Club can be found here.
