CINCINNATI- The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team defeated the Northern Kentucky Norse 2-0 on Wednesday evening at Gettler Stadium to close out the spring season.

Coming off a tie with Butler on Saturday evening, the Bearcats got started early when Shamar Shelton scored his first goal of the spring off a loose ball in the box early in the first half. The Bearcats added to the scoring column when Matt Asensio scored his fourth goal of the spring off of a cross midway through the first half.

With the Norse threatening, Goalkeeper Joey Barnard staved off an NKU scoring threat with a save in a one-on-one situation late in the first half. UC went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

The second half saw a lot of back and forth action between the two teams. Solid defense and patience in their offensive attack were keys for the Bearcats in limiting NKU scoring opportunities. This stellar play allowed the Bearcats to finish the spring season with a shutout and win.

The team will participate in an Alumni Match on Sunday, May 1 at 1:00 p.m. at Gettler Stadium.
