CINCINNATI- The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team played the Butler Bulldogs of the Horizon League to a 1-1 draw on Saturday evening at North Central High School in Indianapolis.
The Bearcats, who recorded their second tie of the spring campaign, fell behind 1-0 after a Butler penalty kick in the first half. The Bearcats responded late in the second half with a penalty kick of their own by Andre Sharpe to pull even.
Difficult playing conditions, coupled with physical play from both teams, contributed to the Bearcat's inability to possess the ball in the first half which limited their scoring opportunities. When the Bearcats lost Roger Thompson in the middle of the second half to injury, other players had to step up. The Bearcats got that boost when Andre Sharpe buried a penalty kick with time winding down in the second half to end with the score tied.
Cincinnati will return home to take on Northern Kentucky in their next spring matchup on Wednesday, April 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Gettler Stadium.
