NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team, seeded No. 9, dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 8-seed Georgetown on Thursday afternoon (April 28) in the first round of the 2011 BIG EAST Tennis Championship, hosted by the University of Notre Dame.

Caitlin O'Gara was UC's lone winner, defeating Alexandra Landers in the No. 6 spot, 6-2, 6-2.

Ksenia Slynko and Jasmine Lee dropped identical 6-1, 6-3 decisions at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots, respectively. At No. 3, Lindsey Lonergan fell, 6-1, 6-2 against GU's Victoria Sekely.

Safiyya Ismail battled before falling, 6-3, 6-4 against Madeline Jaeger, and Ashleigh Witte trailed Ina Tehrani, 5-7, 5-6, but did not finish as the match had been decided.

The Bearcats will play in the consolation bracket on Friday afternoon, starting at 3 p.m.
