CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati men's basketball team will face the University of Georgia in the 2011 BIG EAST/SEC Challenge.
The schedule for the event was released today by the BIG EAST and SEC in conjunction with ESPN, which will air the 12 games from the three-day event.
The Bearcats will play on the second day of the event - Friday, December 2 - at the University of Georgia. Game times and broadcast specifics will be released at a later date.
"We're excited to be part of this great event," said UC head coach Mick Cronin. "I have a lot of respect for (Georgia head coach) Mark Fox and I know he'll have his team ready for this game. Both of these teams played in the NCAA tournament this past season and I'm sure it will be a great matchup. The BIG EAST/SEC Challenge has proven to be an outstanding event and our team is looking forward to this challenge."
The Bearcats have never faced Georgia before. The Bulldogs are coming off a seasons where they finished 21-12 overall and 9-7 in SEC play, good for third place in the league's east division.
