CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's swimming and diving team won the BIG EAST Conference Academic Excellence Award for the 2010-11 season, the league office announced Wednesday.

The winners were chosen based on the 2010-11 grade-point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster as of the last contest of the championship segment in each conference-sponsored sport.

Earlier this week, the Bearcats earned Scholar All-America status from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) after ranking No. 21 in the country with a 3.44 GPA, leading all BIG EAST schools.

Junior Josefin Wede, earned a CSCAA Honorable Mention Scholar All-American Award individually.
