CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati football team's 2011 game against Akron will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 at Nippert Stadium. The game will be aired exclusively by ESPN3.
UC leads the all-time series 3-2 and has won the past two games in the series. The Bearcats hold a 2-1 advantage over the Zips inside Nippert Stadium.
The Bearcats, led by second-year head coach Butch Jones, return 50 letterwinners from the 2010 squad, including unanimous First-Team All-BIG EAST quarterback Zach Collaros (Steubenville, Ohio/Steubenville), as well as a trio of Second-Team All-BIG EAST honorees in running back Isaiah Pead (Columbus, Ohio/Eastmoor Academy), linebacker J.K. Schaffer (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) and wide receiver D.J. Woods (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville).
The Bearcats will report back to campus on Aug. 7 to begin preparations for the 2011 season. The first practice of training camp is scheduled for Aug. 8 and the season opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. against Austin Peay inside Nippert Stadium. The game will be televised by FOX Sports Ohio.
