The start of another season is upon the Bearcats. Here's a look at the week ahead:

  • The men's soccer team continues to prepare for its 2011 campaign, hosting Bowling Green State University in an exhibition match at Gettler Stadium on Monday at 7 p.m. The Bearcats close out the preseason on Saturday, when they travel to Cleveland, Ohio to play Cleveland State in a 4 p.m. contest.
  • The women's soccer team kicks off the season with two home games at Gettler Stadium. On Friday, the Bearcats welcome Cal Poly for a 7 p.m. match before welcoming crosstown rival Xavier for a 1 p.m. game on Sunday.
  • The Volleyball team invites former teammates back to campus for an Alumni match on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Fifth Third Arena. The game will pit former Bearcats against current Bearcats.

Men's Soccer

  • 7 p.m. Monday: UC vs. Bowling Green (Ex.), Gettler Stadium
  • 4 p.m. Saturday: UC at Cleveland State (Ex.), Cleveland, Ohio

Women's Soccer

  • 7 p.m. Friday: UC vs. Cal Poly, Gettler Stadium
  • 1 p.m. Sunday: UC vs. Xavier, Gettler Stadium

Volleyball

  • 2 p.m. Saturday: UC vs. Alumni, Fifth Third Arena

In case you missed it:

  • The women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Ball State in an exhibition game on Friday at Ball State. The Bearcats used the game as an evaluation period, giving each player a chance to play. The defense showed its strength by limiting BSU to 11 shots.
  • The football team kicked off training camp with four days of practice on Nippert Stadium before heading out to Higher Ground on Friday for two weeks of practice and team bonding. Check out all the training camp info here.
  • The volleyball and men's soccer teams reported to campus on Monday and Wednesday, respectively, for meetings and the start of practice.
  • UC Director of Athletics Mike Thomas resigned his position on Wednesday to take the athletic director position at the University of Illinois.
