Football and women's soccer play at home in a week full of action. Here's a look at this week's schedule:

  • Volleyball continues their season on the road, heading to Lexington, Ky. to play University of Kentucky on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Following it up, the team heads down south on Friday to play in the North Texas Tournament in Denton, Texas. The Bearcats open the tournament against Oklahoma at 4:30 p.m. CT before playing Sam Houston State and North Texas on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. CT and 7:00 p.m. CT, respectively.
  • Coming off of their first win of the season, the men's soccer team travels to Blacksburg, Va. to compete in the Hilton Garden Inn Invitational. The Bearcats take on Virginia at 5 p.m. on Friday and then finish the Invitational on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. against Virginia Tech.
  • Women's soccer looks to continue their success from last week, when they host Western Carolina at Gettler Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. On Sunday, the team welcomes Wisconsin for a 1 p.m. match.
  • Football kicks off the season on Saturday night at Nippert Stadium, when the Bearcats play host to Austin Peay at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Ohio.

  • Women's Soccer Head Coach Michelle Salmon earned her 100th career win after the Bearcats beat Northwestern University 2-1 in the Northwestern Tournament.   • Men's soccer opened their 2011 campaign with a 3-1 win at Western Michigan on Friday. Junior Shamar Shelton tied the game with a goal at the 28th minute, while defender Sam Klosterman scored a penalty kick for the game-winner.   • The Volleyball team finished the Northern Illinois Tournament with a 1-3-0 record. The team opened the tournament on Friday with a 3-1 loss to No. 18 Iowa State. Senior Missy Harpenau posted her first double-double of the season with 12 kills and 12 digs. http://www.gobearcats.com/sports/w-volley/recaps/082611aaa.html Later in the day, the bearcats were defeated 3-0 by tournament host Northern Illinois. Northern Illinois won in three sets with 25-19, 27-25, 25-18. http://www.gobearcats.com/sports/w-volley/recaps/082611aab.html On Saturday, the team regrouped and fought hard but eventually fell 3-1 to No. 14 Northern Iowa. Northern Iowa won the first two sets with scores of 17-25 and19-25. The Bearcats came back in the third set with a score of 25-16 but it was not enough as Northern Iowa closed out the match with a final set of 24-26. http://www.gobearcats.com/sports/w-volley/recaps/082711aaa.html The team didn't let the losses hold them down, they defeated IUPUI 3-0 in their last game of the tournament. The Bearcats dominated all three sets with scores of 25-15, 25-13, 25-14.
