BLACKSBURG, Va. - Coming off a 3-1 season-opening win at Western Michigan on Saturday, August 27, the University of Cincinnati men's soccer team will travel to Blacksburg, Va., for the 2011 Hilton Garden Inn Invitational.

Cincinnati will battle perennial power Virginia on Friday, Sept. 2, at 5 p.m. and will then take on host Virginia Tech on Sunday, Sept. 4, at 2:30 p.m. at Thompson Field.

The Bearcats are 0-1 all-time against Virginia, having played in 2004 at a tournament in Saint Louis. Virginia Tech leads the series between the former Metro Conference rivals, 7-3. They have not met since 1991, the final season both teams were members of the league. This will mark the first contest against an ACC foe since the 2004 meeting with Virgina.

The Bearcats fell behind early at Western Michigan, before scoring three unanswered goals to secure the season-opening win.

Senior defender Sam Klosterman was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after scoring the game-winner from the penalty spot in the victory.

The Bearcats will open the 2011 home schedule next weekend, welcoming Central Arkansas and IUPUI on Friday, Sept. 9 and Sunday, Sept. 11, respectively. Kickoffs are set for 7 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
