TicketsPanevezys, Lithuania - Former University of Cincinnati men's basketball player Adam Hrycaniuk represented his native Poland in five games, Aug. 31 - Sept. 5, at the 2011 EuroBasket, an Olympic-qualifying tournament comprised of European nations attempting to compete at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Hrycaniuk averaged 11 points, six rebounds and shot 51.2 percent from the field (22-of-43) for the tournament. Poland posted a 2-3 mark in the preliminary round, failing to advance to the second round. Hrycaniuk's best performances came in Poland's last two games, recording 15 points and six rebounds in an 84-83 victory over Turkey and contributing 15 points and seven rebounds in an 88-81 setback to Great Britain.
In earlier contests, Hrycaniuk posted 12 points and nine rebounds against Spain (83-78 loss), five points and two rebounds against Lithuania (97-77 loss) and eight points and six rebounds against Portugal (81-73 win).
Hrycaniuk, averaged 6.4 points and 5.3 rebounds, while shooting 70.5 percent from the free-throw line during the 2007-08 campaign - his lone season on the court as a Bearcat. He sat out the 2006-07 season at UC after transferring from Trinity Valley Community College. He graduated from UC in 2008 with a degree in criminal justice.
Hrycaniuk will start his fourth season playing professionally in Poland with Asseco Prokom Gdynia, winners of the country's last three championships. The squad also competes in the Euro League.
