CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati students will continue to have one of the loudest voices in Nippert Stadium during the 2011 season as student season tickets have sold out, the Athletics Ticket Office announced Tuesday.
The block of 3,000 student season tickets sold out for the third straight year ensuring the south end zone bowl will continue to be one of the loudest sections in Nippert Stadium.
Support during the 2011 season has already been strong, as UC's students, not back in classes for another two weeks, sold out the entire student section for UC's season opening 72-10 win over Austin Peay on Sept. 3 in Nippert Stadium. This marks the first time in school history that the student section was sold out for the home opener.
"Our program greatly appreciates everyone's support and we are especially thankful for the efforts of our student body," Head Coach Butch Jones said. "Their ability to make Nippert Stadium into the best home venue in the BIG EAST Conference is shown by both the Austin Peay and season student tickets sell out. Our students are definitely holding the rope."
For students who do not have season tickets, an additional 3,000 tickets are available in the student section on a game by game basis. These tickets are available for pickup online or in person 10 days before each home game.
Student tickets for UC's Sept. 17, 2011 matchup with Akron will go on sale at 8 a.m. Wednesday. Visit CATSTIX.com or the athletics ticket office on the fourth floor of the Richard E. Lindner Center to acquire tickets. Please note that student tickets are complimentary with proper ID, but those that order online will be assessed a $1.50 processing fee per ticket.
UC and Akron will kick off at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 inside Nippert Stadium. The game will be televised exclusively by ESPN3.com.
