PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On the strength of three goals, including a pair of game winners last weekend, University of Cincinnati freshman forward Cole DeNormandie (Lincoln, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) has been named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week.

The true freshman helped the Bearcats (3-2-0) to a pair of victories last weekend in the University of Cincinnati/University of Louisville Tournament. He scored the opening goal in a 3-0 win against Central Arkansas on Friday (Sept. 9) and tallied twice, including the deciding goal, in a 4-1 victory against IUPUI on Sunday (Sept. 11).

DeNormandie leads the Bearcats with four goals through five matches. A 2010 NSCAA High School All-American and Gatorade Player of the Year in Massachussetts, DeNormandie is part of a young nucleus for a UC team that relies upon four frehmen starters and a pair of first-year transfers.

DeNormandie is the first UC freshman to earn Rookie of the Week honors since defender Alex Hadley (Dayton, Ohio/Carroll) was named Rookie of the Week on Oct. 4, 2010.

Cincinnati continues a four-match home stand against Missouri State on Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. in Gettler Stadium.
