CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati women's basketball head coach Jamelle Elliott and her team hosted the second annual golf outing honoring Bill Keating and Buzz Smith at Sharon Woods Golf Course on Sunday afternoon. Keating is a major contributor to the women's basketball program, while Smith was adopted by Elliott's squad in May.

"I'm just enjoying getting out here, hitting some balls and mingling with so many supporters of UC and what they've done for our program," Elliott said. "It's a great event. We're honoring Buzz and Bill Keating. Buzz has had some health issues, but his spirit has been great. Some of the proceeds from the golf tournament will be going toward him and his medical costs. Bill Keating has been a great advocate for UC athletics for a very long time. I think it's a great benefit for everyone that's involved."

The golfers began with lunch at the clubhouse, followed by a round of 18 holes. The day, which was nearly sold out, ended with dinner and a silent auction.

Cincinnati opens its 2011-12 campaign with a home exhibition contest against Northern Kentucky on Sat., Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. The regular season opener will be against IPFW on Fri., Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. at Fifth Third Arena.
