The University of Cincinnati celebrates this week's Special Edition of Bearcat Friday!

The Bearcat mascot took a trip downtown to Fountain Square to participate in the 2nd annual Skyline Chili Mascot Battle. The Bearcat competed against three other tri-state mascots including Coney Man of Skyline Chili, Gapper of the Cincinnati Reds and D'Artagnan of Xaiver University. The mascots battled for the chance to win $1,000 for their charity of choice. The Bearcat, who was playing for the Barrett Cancer Center, participated in a hula hoop contest, cornhole toss and obstacle course, as the crowd cheered on their favorite mascot to victory! Gapper brought home the win and $1,000 for the Reds Community Fund, making him the two-time champ of the event.

"Although the Bearcat didn't win, he did a great job revving up the crowd and making the competition a bit fiercer for the other competitors. Who knew a Bearcat could have such fine hula-hooping skills and would be so adept at delivering Skyline beverages to waiting fans? Although he may have knocked down a cone or two during the obstacle course, his enthusiasm more than made up for his lack of coordination. We loved having him at the Mascot Battle and can't wait to see him bring his 'A' game next year," said Lauren Doyle from Wordsworth Communications, on behalf of Skyline Chili.

Skyline Chili opened in Cincinnati in 1949 by a young man from Greece named Nicholas Lambrinides. As a young boy, Nicholas had always dreamed of bringing his authentic family recipes to America. Since then, Skyline Chili has been serving its delicious menu items that have been bringing family and friends together for generations! Skyline Chili is an official sponsor for the University of Cincinnati and its delicious 'Coneys and Ways' can be enjoyed at Athletic events throughout the year!
