Freshman setter Caylin Mahoney (Fort Worth, Texas/Keller Central) has earned the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week award after leading Cincinnati to a 2-0 mark against Notre Dame and DePaul.

This is the first honor for Mahoney in her career. She totaled 96 assists in victories over Notre Dame and DePaul, averaging 13.71 per set. Mahoney ran the Bearcat offense, which hit .320 over the course of the weekend. She now totals 681 assists on the season and 10.81 per set. This average ranks third in the league. This freshman of the week award is the first for a Bearcat setter since Annie Fesl won it in 2007.

Senior Missy Harpenau was also honored this week by being named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll. Harpenau averaged 5.14 kills per set and recorded 25 digs for two double-doubles in the matches this weekend. She also recorded 7 total aces, including a season-high 6 against DePaul. Harpenau is well over the 1,000 career kill mark with the success of this season. Her total now is 1,060.

The Bearcats (4-0, BIG EAST) will continue their quest for the regular season championship title of the BIG EAST this weekend when they take on Rutgers and Seton Hall in New Jersey.
