FORT MEYERS, Fla. -- Junior David Tepe recorded a final-round 7-over par 79 to tie for 44th place with a 12-over 288, leading the University of Cincinnati men's golf team at the Cobra-Puma Invitational Monday at the Miromar Lakes Golf Club.

Tepe has finished first among all Bearcats in each of the three fall tournaments this season. The native of Liberty Township, Ohio, tied for 15th place with 1-over par 145 in the rain-shortened Cardinal Invitational on Sept. 27. He also carded a career-best 1-over par 214 to tie for 25th place at the Marshall Invitational on Sept. 13.

Florida Gulf Coast won the team title at the Cobra-Puma Invitational with a 289-275-289=853, thanks in part to Brandon Pena, who earned medalist honors with a 10-under par 71-67-68=206.

The Bearcats finished 11th in the 12-team field with a 309-314-310=933. Freshman Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) ended the tournament in 59th place at 77-80-78=235. Junior Zach Bates (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) with an 80-80-76=236 and freshman Mike Irwin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) carding a 79-79-78=236 each tied for 58th place. Sophomore Spencer Mellon (Oakmont, Pa./Central Catholic) finished in 65th position with an 85-79-78=242.

UC plays host to the annual Bearcat Invitational, Oct. 10-11, at Traditions Golf Club in Hebron, Ky. The 54-hole tournament features two rounds on Oct. 10 beginning with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. and the final round starting on Oct. 11 at 8:30 a.m.
