The Bearcat Volleyball team is in New Jersey this weekend to face off against Rutgers and Seton Hall.
Cincinnati is led on the year by senior Missy Harpenau. The lone senior averages 3.70 kills per set and a team-high 0.33 aces per set. Caylin Mahoney, who was just named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, runs the offense with 10.81 assists per set. Sophomore libero Emily Macintyre leads the defense with 3.65 digs per set. Junior Becca Refenes anchors the defense at the net with 1.02 blocks per set.
The game against Rugters will be Friday, October 7 at 7:00 p.m. The Scarlet Knights are 0-3 in the BIG EAST so far. They are led by Alex Jones who averages 3.88 kills per set and 0.94 blocks per set. Stephanie Zielinski runs the Scarlet Knight offense with 10.03 assists per set. She also leads the team with 0.36 serving aces per set. Kallie Pence has just made the transition from the setter position to the libero position this season and now leads the team with 3.41 digs per set.
The face-off against Seton Hall will be Sunday, October 9 at 4:00 p.m. This match will be the battle of unbeaten teams. The Pirates, like the Bearcats, are undefeated in BIG EAST play with a 3-0 record. They are led by Shelbey Manthorpe, who just recorded the school's first triple double in their victory over USF. She averages 8.52 assists per set and 1.91 kills per set from her setter position. Meghan Matusiak leads the offense with 3.75 kills per set. Alyssa Warren leads the team in two categories. She averages 0.35 aces per set and 5.70 digs per set.
