Cincinnati vs Pitt/WVU Match Notes
The Cincinnati volleyball team will host Pittsburgh and West Virginia Saturday and Sunday, both at 2 p.m.
Coming off a dramatic five-set win over the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky, the Bearcats look to continue the longest running home winning streak in the nation. The number now stands at 43 wins, dating back to 2007.
The team is led on the year by senior Missy Harpenau and her 3.55 kills-per-set average. She also leads behind the service line with 0.32 aces per set. On the defensive side of the ball, sophomore libero Emily Macintyre leads with 3.81 digs per set. In her first year in a Bearcat uniform, Caylin Mahoney already leads the team and ranks in the top 50 of the NCAA in assists per set with her 10.59 average.
Pittsburgh is coming into Cincinnati off of two straight losses against West Virginia and non-conference foe Robert Morris. The Panthers post a 3-4 mark in BIG EAST play and are led by Monica Wignot's 3.55 kills per set. Margy Action posts a 4.65 dig-per-set average.
West Virginia has the same 3-4 record in BIG EAST matches. Michelle Kopecky leads the team with 2.54 kills per set, while Serinna Russo proves to be the libero with the highest numbers this weekend with 5.56 digs per set.
