BAHA CALIFORNIA, Mexico - University of Cincinnati junior David Tepe (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) stands tied for 17th place with two other players with a 2-over par 73 after the first round of the Cabo Collegiate at the Club Compestre Golf Course.
Tepe is six shots behind a trio of players atop the leaderboard at 3-under par 68, including Sebastian Cappelen of Arkansas and the Loyola Marymount tandem of Ji Hwan Park and Tyler Torano.
The Razorbacks lead the 12-team field after a 3-under 281 team score. Cincinnati is in 12th place at 312.
UC junior Andrew Desmarais (Union, Ky./Ryle) carded a 7-over 78 to tie for 48th place. Freshman Michael Wolfe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) shot an 80 to tie for 55th place. Freshman Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) finished with an 81 to tie for 57th place. Junior Zach Bates (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) posted an 82 to tie for 62nd position.
Second-round play begins Friday at 11 a.m. ET.
