Weekend Match Notes

The Bearcat volleyball team will travel east to take on Georgetown and Villanova Friday, November 11 at 12:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 13 at 2:00 p.m. respectively.

The two matches will serve as the final test for the team as its last two regular season BIG EAST matches. Currently, the Bearcats are sitting in second place behind Louisville. They will automatically play next week in the BIG EAST Championship tournament, hosted by Marquette.

Senior Missy Harpenau (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) comes into the weekend as the reigning Big East Player of the Week. She leads the team and is sixth in the BIG EAST in kills per set with 3.51. She also is second on the team with 2.88 digs per set.

Freshman Caylin Mahoney (Fort Worth, Texas/Keller Central) was also honored by the BIG EAST this week as the Freshman of the Week for the third time of her career. She is second in the BIG EAST and leads the team with 10.93 assists per set. She has tied the second-most number of Freshman of the Week awards in one season with the honor this week.

Junior Jordanne Scott (Indianapolis, Ind. /Lawrence North) has had an impressive second half of her 2011 season. She leads the team and is 8th in the BIG EAST with a .302 hitting percentage. Scott is second on the team with 3.29 kills per set. Junior Emily Hayden (Louisville, Ky. /Assumption) is close behind with a .280 hitting percentage on the year.

On defense, sophomore libero Emily MacIntyre (Muncie, Ind. /Yorktown) leads the team with 3.83 digs per set. At the net defensively, junior Becca Refenes continues to be the leader with 1.11 blocks per set. That number is ranked sixth in the BIG EAST.
