CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision against Indiana on Saturday afternoon at the Western Tennis and Fitness Club.
Ashleigh Witte earned UC's (0-4) lone win on the afternoon in straight sets with a 6-2, 7-5 victory against Indiana's (4-1) Alecia Kauss.
The Hoosiers took the doubles point, sweeping the matches by scores of 8-7, 8-2 and 8-2.
Jasmine Lee fell in her first set on a tiebreaker, 7-6, and came up just short again in her second set, 7-5 to Evgeniya Vertesheva.
Kristina Georgieva dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Katie Klyczek with Safiyya Ismail falling 6-2, 6-0 against Kayla Fujimoto.
Sierra Sullivan fell 6-1, 6-2 to Shannon Murdy while Carly Wilson dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to IU's Sophie Garre.
The Bearcats return to action on Sunday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. when they welcome Syracuse to Western Tennis and Fitness Club for their first BIG EAST match of the season.
