CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team welcomes Memphis on Friday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m. in the Western Tennis and Fitness Club and will travel to Lexington to take on Kentucky on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. in the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Center.
The Bearcats fell to 0-5 after dropping home matches to Indiana (5-1) on Friday, Feb. 4 and to Syracuse (3-3) in their BIG EAST home opener on Sunday, Feb. 5. Ashleigh Witte picked up the lone Bearcat win of the weekend with a 6-2, 7-5 straight set victory over Indiana's Alecia Kauss. The win improved Witte's season record to 2-3 in singles play.
Memphis is 2-1 after dropping a 6-1 decision to Georgia Tech. The Tigers lone win came from senior Mariya Slupska who improved her singles play record to 3-0. Memphis will visit Wright State on Friday afternoon before heading south to take on the Bearcats.
On Sunday, Cincinnati will travel south to take on the 4-1 Kentucky Wildcats. UK secured their fourth victory of the season after knocking off the Miami Redhawks 5-2 on Sunday, Feb. 5. The Wildcats were led by a quick 6-0, 6-1 victory by Jessica Stiles. Kentucky will also play host to Winthrop on Sunday in an afternoon match, before taking on the Bearcats in the evening.
