The University of Cincinnati celebrates this week's Bearcat Friday Winners!
The University of Cincinnati Athletic Department developed a way for campus offices and businesses around the country to join in on the fun and show their Bearcat spirit!
This week's Bearcat Friday Winners are American Modern Insurance Group and Amelia Elementary School. The Bearcat mascot took a trip to Amelia on Friday, February 10th to visit employees at AMIG and the students at Amelia Elementary School.
The Bearcat surprised employees at AMIG that were on their lunch break. There were several UC Alumni in the crowd and employees were excited to take their picture with the Bearcat. The Bearcat also stopped by the in-house blood drive to see everyone that was donating blood.
"Bearcat Friday was so much fun! It was great to see everyone show their Bearcat support by wearing their red and black and taking pictures with the Bearcat! I am a diehard Bearcat fan and it was great to share the experience with my coworkers at AMIG," Shelia Batchler, Bearcat Friday Winner.
American Modern Insurance Group was incorporated in 1965, yet the company's history dates back to 1938 when the Midland Company was founded in Cincinnati, OH as automobile finance company. In 2010, the Midland name was formerly "retired" as a public brand in favor of American Modern Insurance Group. For more information about AMIG, please visit their website at www.amig.com
After stopping at AMIG, the Bearcat made a surprise visit at Amelia Elementary School. The kids were shocked to see the Bearcat as he made a special visit to every classroom. The kids welcomed the Bearcat with big smiles, lots of laughs and even some UC cheers.
"Students and teachers were thrilled to have a celebrity visit the school even if it was the furry kind! The Bearcat visited classrooms, signed autographs and gave many high-fives," Stephanie Walker, Principal at Amelia Elementary.
Amelia Elementary is part of the West Clermont Local School District in Amelia. Amelia Elementary, 'Home of the Tigers', has approximately 800 students, preschool through fifth grade, and has over 37 full time teachers. The original Amelia High School became the elementary school in 1962. In 2010, Amelia Elementary School opened its new building and is one of eight elementary schools in the West Clermont District. In addition to competing against other participating groups to show off your Bearcat spirit with pride, registering will make you eligible to win prizes for your group and maybe even get a visit from the Bearcat himself.
Register your business/group by clicking here. Random businesses will be selected to participate in Bearcats Friday and will be contacted if chosen.
Your business/group will receive a sign to display showing your support to our students, faculty, staff, and alumni, and that you are a proud member of Bearcats Nation!
