CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis will travel to Akron on Sunday, Feb. 18, to take on the Akron Zips at 10 a.m. in the LaTuchie Tennis Center.

The Bearcats are fresh off their first win of the season, a 6-1 decision over Wright State on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m. in the Western Tennis and Fitness Club.

Three Bearcats notched their first singles play victories of the season. Kristina Georgieva recorded a three set decison over Wright State's Masha Peresetsky, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, with Sierra Sullivan and Safiyya Ismail both recording straight set wins of their own. Sullivan topped WSU's Amy Nini 6-2, 6-3 while Ismail recorded a 7-5, 6-3 decision over Chelsea Girgash.

Jasmine Lee picked up her second singles play win of the season, a 6-3, 6-1 decision against Kayla Tuscany. Ashleigh Witte added to her team-leading three singles play victories with a 7-6, 6-2 decision over the Raiders' Alex Bastock.

Akron is currently 8-0 pending the outcome of their Friday afternoon match against Louisville. The Zips' latest victory came against Youngstown State on Sunday, Feb. 12. in a 7-0 sweep. Akron was led in singles play by Prang Pantusart and Angelika Jogasuria who both topped their YSU opponents in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.

Cincinnati will return to play in the Western Tennis and Fitness Club on Friday, Feb. 24, at 5 p.m. to begin a weekend-long tilt against BIG EAST foes Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Connecticut.
