CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team (13-12, 4-8 BIG EAST) attempts to extend its winning streak when it travels to Seton Hall (7-19, 0-12 BIG EAST) on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. Cincinnati has won four of its last five matchups, including its recent defeat of Pittsburgh to eclipse the most wins under head coach Jamelle Elliott. Last Time Out
The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team defeated Pittsburgh (8-16, 0-11 BIG EAST), 62-57, to improve to 13-12, giving UC its most wins in the Elliott Era. It marked Cincinnati's first BIG EAST Conference home win of the season and first time it has beat Pitt since March 16, 2000.
Bjonee Reaves (San Bernardino, Calif./Cajon), Chanel Chisholm (Long Island, N.Y./North Babylon/Vanderbilt) and Dayeesha Hollins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods/Michigan)led the Bearcats in double-figures. Reaves had a game-high 19 points, while Chisholm recorded her second-straight double-digit game with 14 points. Hollins finished with 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Three-Straight BIG EAST Nods
UC placed a trio of different student-athletes on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll in the last three-consecutive weeks, including Bjonee Reaves (Jan. 30), Dayeesha Hollins (Feb. 6) and Chanel Chisholm (Feb. 13). The Bearcats went 4-2 in those three weeks, including its first BIG EAST victory of the season at Syracuse and its first win against Pittsburgh since 2000.
Bearcats Against The Pirates
The series is tied, 3-3, but the Bearcats hold a 2-1 mark at Seton Hall. The Pirates won last year's battle, 51-44, on Feb. 12, 2011 at Fifth Third Arena. Despite a big second-half comeback, the University of Cincinnati women's basketball team dropped a 51-44 decision. The Bearcats, who fell behind by as much as 24 early in the second half, cut the deficit to three late in the game but were unable to get any closer.
Scouting Seton Hall
Seton Hall enters Saturday's contest with a 7-19 overall record, including a 0-12 BIG EAST mark and 3-10 record at home. The Pirates have lost 14 straight, including its most recent 62-47 loss to Providence on Feb. 11. It's last win was Dec. 17, 2011 against Stony Brook. SHU is led by Jasmine Crew (18.4 ppg) and Brittany Morris (11.3 ppg), while Tajay Ashmeade has a team-high 8.4 rpg. Seton Hall was picked to finish last in the BIG EAST in the preseason polls.
