Ramsland Scores Career-High In 17-12 Win Against Fresno State

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Junior midfielder Kylie Ramsland (Catonsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian Academy) scored a career-high six goals as the University of Cincinnati lacrosse team (1-1) defeated Fresno State (0-1), 17-12, on Sunday afternoon at San Diego State's Aztec Lacrosse Field.

Eight student-athletes scored for the Bearcats, including Ramsland, MacKenzie Parsons (3), Laura Simanski (2), Marissa Pierson (2), Rachel Mercier (1), Katie Kiriazoglou (1), Jenn Doran (1) and Megan Bell (1).

After holding a 7-6 halftime lead, UC scored 10 second-half goals to extend its all-time series record against the Bulldogs, 3-0. Cincinnati's 10 goals in the second period were its most in one half since it scored 15 in the first half against Fresno State on March 23, 2010.

Cincinnati scored the first three goals of the contest, but Fresno State quickly caught up to make it a tie game, 3-3, with 10:26 remaining in the first half. Both teams continued to exchange goals for the remainder of the period - including the first of the season by UC's all time leading scorer, Laura Simanski - before Cincinnati took the 7-6 halftime lead.

Once again, the Bearcats opened the half with three-straight goals, including two more from Ramsland to make it 10-6. Fresno State came within three of UC twice, but the Bearcats held on for its first win of the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jen Walsh finished with nine saves, while Fresno State's Katie Wilbur had 14.

The Bearcats travel to Presbyterian on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 12 p.m.
