CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati women's soccer head coach Michelle Salmon announced the promotion of Amanda Martin to associate head coach on Friday.
"We're pleased to announce that Amanda Martin has been promoted today," said Salmon. "Being our primary recruiting coordinator over the last two years, she's proven that she's not only a tremendous asset to the program in terms of coaching, but a fantastic recruiter. This is a well-deserved promotion and I'm excited to continue to build Cincinnati in the BIG EAST with Amanda Martin as our associate head coach."
Martin is entering her fifth season as a coach in the UC women's soccer program. Since her third year with the Bearcats, Martin has managed all recruiting activity as recruiting coordinator and is responsible for game management, training preparation, and alumni relations.
"I'm honored to be promoted to associate head coach," Martin said. "This is a program and a University that I believe in wholeheartedly. We're building something great here at Cincinnati and it's an exciting time to be here! I'm thankful to Michelle Salmon for continuing to believe in me and constantly pushing me to be the best version of myself."
As recruiting coordinator, Martin has placed a strong emphasis on keeping local Greater Cincinnati talent home to play for the Bearcats, such as Mackenzie Grause, a forward from Ft. Thomas, Ky. who was named a 2011 Top Drawer Soccer Top-100 Freshman after leading UC in goals scored. Martin also has used her strong recruiting ties to create a pipeline from the West Coast to UC as next season's roster will feature seven players from Arizona and California.
"Amanda's work ethic, dedication and commitment to Cincinnati are unparallel," Salmon added. "She truly believes in Cincinnati and the ethics that this athletic department stands for. The way in which she carries herself and conducts herself on and off the field and in the community is a true representation of the University of Cincinnati, our athletic department and what our program is about."
In the midst of offseason training, the Bearcats open their 2012 spring training schedule with a match at Tennessee on March 10.
