WESTON, Fla. - The University of Cincinnati women's golf team opened the spring season with a 13th-place finish at the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge at the Weston Hills Country Club.
The Bearcats were led by sophomore Olivia Dose, who carded rounds of 77-80-76=233 to finish in a tie for 42nd. She was followed closely by classmate Andrea Malek with rounds of 77-81-78=236, good for a 50th-place tie.
Juniors Maria Roos (79-81-80=240) and Alex Carl (77-80-86=243) finished 61st and 72nd, respectively.
Cincinnati (310-322-315=947) finished nine shots up on Delaware, which finished 14th with rounds of 322-310-324=956. UC was behind 12th-place UNC-Wilmington, which posted 309-311-310=922.
North Carolina State won the team title with rounds of 289-287-282=858 and featured the individual champ, Brittany Marchand (70-71-69=210), who topped teammate Augusta James (69-69-72=210) in a playoff. Texas State (299-292-289=880) finished second, 22 shots behind the champion Wolfpack.
The Bearcats are next in action at the Clover Cup in Mesa, Ariz., March 16-18.
